Job Description - Quantity Surveyor
A fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic person to join our thriving family run business. This is a new role which has become available due to company expansion and increasing work. We are seeking a hard-working customer focused individual who will enjoy working in a fun busy environment. The successful candidate will be working on a selection of construction projects within a variety of sectors. They will be able to, or willing to learn how to complete all aspects of cost management and quantity surveying from inception to completion of projects.
Excellent computer skills are required as we use a variety of integrated apps, in particular measuring drawings. We are very keen to be efficient with our information flow. We would love you to be positive with a can do attitude, occasionally there may be office dogs present.
Working Hours: 9 - 5 Monday to Friday (40 hours a week)
This position is based in a rural location. Please consider how you would be able commute to and from work. This position is desk based with some site visits where necessary.
Candidate Requirements

Be a great communicator with the ability to communicate verbally, clear and polite over the phone and clear and concise through the written word via email

Have achieved GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above (or equivalent)

Have previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or in training currently

Have the ability to see the detail in words and numbers, and the ability to stay alert within a fast paced working environment with multiple daily deadlines

Be happy, helpful, resourceful and keen to help solve a variety of problems

Willingness to learn

Be a self starter and although working in a team be self motivated
Job Tasks
- Data inputting
- Quote Creation
- Take off measures from drawings
- Dealing with customers over the phone
- Estimating and preparing tender submissions for new projects
- Communicating with the projects team and supplying quantities ready for orders
- Resolve invoice queries
- Appraise and approve sub-contract applications and variations
- Liaising with the clients to agree valuations
- Price and submit variations on a regular basis
- Full training given to survey prospective new jobs
- Pre-start meetings attended to develop knowledge
- In-house project tracking meetings
- Resource Tracking on CRM and a number of Applications

Schedule
● Monday to Friday.
● Normally 8 hours per day, flexible between the hours of 07:30 - 17:30.
● We are busy in the summer so hours to suit can be gained back.
● Office based with some requirement to visit sites.
● Will need to be committed to work extra hours to succeed, be available for some communications although few on rare weekends.
● Work remotely: No.
Education
● GCSE A-C in Maths and English essential.
Experience
- Quantity surveying: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification
- Driving licence: required
