Which Altro White Sheet is for me?
When most people think of PVC wall cladding, they think of Altro. Being the brand leader for 40 years, Altro has paved the way when it comes to creating hygienically engineered cladding systems, which last the test of time.
Over the last couple of years, Altro has launched new ranges, to go alongside their classic Altro Whiterock, which can leave you wondering, which white Altro sheet is the best fit for your project. In this post we break down the characteristics of the different sheets available, so you can choose the product which is right for you.
Altro Whiterock White
Altro Whiterock White is the original Whiterock sheet. With a 30 year guarantee, and over 40 years of production, the original Altro Whiterock is the best choice for any installation, but especially in high hygiene areas, such as pharmaceuticals, clean rooms, sterilisation areas and food production facilities. It has a dense material compound make-up of 1.44 g/cm3 and an impact resistance ranging from -20℃ to +20℃. Altro Whiterock is definitely the best choice for welded finishing - the 2.5mm solid sheet format welds brilliantly to a seamless joint. Altro Whiterock is available to purchase from Hycom direct, and it’s also one of the products that we also offer an installation service for.
Altro Whiterock Vantage?
Altro Whiterock Vantage is a co-extruded sheet, made up of three layers - two outer and an inner, less solid and more aerated layer. This is the perfect sheet for general purpose areas, such as laundries, supermarkets and outpatient facilities. Altro Whiterock Vantage has Altro’s 20 year guarantee. Vantage is at a slightly lower price point than the standard Altro Whiterock, but is not recommended in certain environments, so it is important to take this into consideration. Altro Whiterock Vantage is not suitable for prisons, mental health facilities, seclusion areas, operating theatres, holding cells, commercial kitchens, or any critical hygiene areas. In areas such as this it is advised to use Altro Whiterock instead. Vantage is also available for installation by our teams, and available to purchase directly from Hycom.
Altro Whiterock Nexus
Altro Whiterock Nexus is a 2mm sheet, and so is 0.5mm thinner than the other white Altro sheets available. Due to the thickness of the sheets, Nexus is the most budget friendly option in the Altro range. Nexus is recommended for general use areas, such as corridors, bathrooms or waiting rooms. The Nexus sheet is perfect for areas that still require a hygienic, easily wipeable wall surface, but would not be recommended above the other sheets, when looking to install in any areas which are hygiene critical. Altro Nexus is an ecommerce only product which you can purchase either on the Hycom website, or over the phone with our office team. We do not offer an installation service for this product.

Whilst price plays an important role in the making of your decision, other factors such as the level of hygiene you need in your area, the thickness of the sheets you need, and whether a co-extruded sheet is the right option, and also all things that you need to consider.
